PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland Mayor Sam Adams fell behind payments on a home loan again, marking the third time in 14 months he hasn’t paid mortgage on time.

The Oregonian reports that Adams went four months without paying the $2,413 payment on a rental triplex property in the north Portland neighborhood of Kenton. Lenders posted a default notice to the county on August 18, the first step in foreclosure.

But six days later the lender withdrew the notice, saying Adams resolved the default. Adams declined to comment Wednesday.

A year ago Adams ran into trouble paying mortgage on two other properties — his home and a property next door. At the time, Adams said he was financially overwhelmed by the costs of his legal defense against charges that he lied about a sexual relationship with a teenage legislative intern.
