PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Eagles head coach Andy Reid has made it official that Michael Vick will start at quarterback when the Eagles play Sunday at the Detroit Lions.

Vick will be making his first start at quarterback since the final game of the 2006 season for Atlanta. He is replacing Kevin Kolb, who is out with a concussion suffered in the season-opening loss to Green Bay last Sunday.

Middle linebacker Stewart Bradley also will be out, Reid said Friday after the team’s final practice of the week.

Reid said “Michael is excited to step up and play.”

Vick missed the entire 2007 and 2008 season after he went to prison for his involvement in a dog-fighting ring. The Eagles signed him last year and he played in 12 games for the team, mostly as an option in the wildcat formation.
