SEATTLE (AP) — Washington and Oregon are among the top states getting money from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to better market specialty crops.

The USDA defines specialty crops as fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, horticulture and nursery crops. The grants are to help growers sell their products internationally and to encourage Americans to eat more fruits and vegetables.

Washington’s Department of Agriculture is getting more than $3.7 million, the third highest amount behind California and Florida. Oregon’s Agriculture Department will receive more than $1.7 million, while Idaho’s agency is getting just over $1 million. Alaska will get about $197,000. Nationally, the USDA is giving about $55 million in grants.
