Nuns in Spokane Valley feuding

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — Two groups of nuns in Spokane Valley are feuding over accusations of stolen cash and silver, forged business records and slander.

The Spokesman-Review says the dispute has resulted in a police investigation at the request of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Ghost. They allege that two members of their convent left, but not before stealing the items and turning them over to a rival convent at Mount St. Michael.

The convents are affiliated with different breakaway sects of the Catholic Church. The reverend mother of the Missionary Sisters contends that leaders at Mount St. Michael have been using stolen files to spread false rumors about her order.

The head of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate Queen at Mount St. Michael says the allegations are totally unfounded and she doesn’t understand why the Missionary Sisters are making them.
