BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) — Brazil’s top Olympic official says the country is aiming to finish in the top 10 in the medal count at the 2016 Rio Games.

Carlos Arthur Nuzman, president of Brazil’s Olympic committee, announced the target Monday in a meeting with Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Countries that host the Olympics usually improve on their previous medal tallies. China won more golds than any other country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but the United States was No. 1 in overall medals won.
