ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Kendry Morales is back at Angel Stadium, where the Los Angeles slugger’s ill-advised leap onto home plate to celebrate a game-ending grand slam left him with a broken leg.

The first baseman is still bewildered by the freak accident that resulted in one of the weirdest major injuries in recent sports history.

After his homer beat Seattle 5-1 on May 29, Morales leaped to celebrate with his teammates. He ended up with a twisted ankle and a broken leg that required season-ending surgery.

Although Morales led the Angels in several offensive categories when he got hurt, he believes they have missed his clubhouse humor just as much as his offense.

Los Angeles is likely to miss the playoffs for just the third time in nine seasons.
