NEW YORK (AP) — China is sending its national baseball team to the Florida Instructional League, in preparation for the start of the Asian Games in Guangzhou on Nov. 13.

Major League Baseball said Wednesday that 26 players will train at Vero Beach sports village through Oct. 24.

China will play 12 exhibitions against instructional league teams and also meet the Canadian junior national team.

China will be led by a pair of former major leaguers, with Tom Lawless as coach and Scott McGregor as pitching coach. Lawless was a coach for China in 2007-08.
