A convicted felon from Vancouver was sentenced today to six years in prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm.

Wesley S. Razo, 25, was handed the sentenced in Tacoma by U.S. District Court Judge Robert Bryan.

He pleaded guilty in October to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Authorities say Razo was arrested on Dec. 1, 2008, following a drug deal investigation, where he had agreed to meet a drug customer in the parking lot of a Safeway store. Vancouver police officers — tipped off by an informant — stopped Razo’s vehicle. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a stolen sawed-off shotgun reported stolen from Ridgefield.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Razo has convictions from 2005 and 2007 in Clark County Superior Court for methamphetamine possession. Because of those convictions, Razo is prohibiting from possessing firearms.

In his plea agreement, Razo admitted possessing and selling four other firearms in 2009. Razo sold the guns to a person working with law enforcement. Razo was arrested and charged federally in June 2009.

In handing down his sentence, Judge Bryan said Razo had “lived an outlaw life for a long time” and was a “danger to the public.”
