Game notes

• NO. 3 VS. NO. 8: The Associated Press came out with its first state-wide poll of the season this week. Camas showed up at No. 3 in the Class 3A poll. Skyview is No. 8 in the 4A poll. Lucky for us, the teams play each other this week to determine the top-ranked team in Clark County.

• WHAT ABOUT UNION?: It is a little strange not to see Union in the polls. After all, the Titans’ only loss this season was a close game to No. 2 Bellevue. So while Camas and Skyview are playing in that “ranked” game, Union will be trying to imrpove to 3-1 with a home game against Kelso. The Titans don’t need a ranking. Just know that they are feeling a bit overlooked right now, and that could be dangerous to opponents.

• IN-DISTRICT RIVAL: Heritage and Mountain View face each other in the nightcap at McKenzie Stadium. It is a non-league game now, but it remains a rivalry.

• BIGGEST GAME THAT REALLY COUNTS: With only one league game in the 3A GSHL and one in the 2A GSHL, it’s the 1A schools that have a full schedule of games that really matter. Ridgefield (3-0, 1-0 Trico League) travel to face La Center (2-1, 0-1) in the Trico game of the week.

• AIR IT OUT: Prairie is known for its passing game in recent years. Not so much Fort Vancouver. But the Trappers threw for more than 200 yards last week. Dare we say that this 3A GSHL game will be won in the air?
