SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A 29-year-old woman accused of killing two high school students and critically injuring a third while driving under the influence of drugs has been ordered held without bail in the Marion County Jail.

Sophia Downing of Salem was arraigned Friday in Circuit Court on two counts of manslaughter and charges of second-degree assault and driving under the influence in Thursday’s crash.

The Statesman Journal says 18-year-old Brittney Green and 16-year-old Francisco Cervantes died after they were struck by an SUV. Sheriff’s Cmdr. Kevin Schultz says 18-year-old Jorge Echeverria remains in critical condition at Salem Hospital.
