Central Connecticut State beats Bryant 41-24

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Everette Benjamin ran for 188 yards and three touchdowns to lead Central Connecticut State to a 41-24 win over Bryant on Saturday.

Gunnar Jespersen also rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown and threw for 174 more for the Blue Devils in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams.

Central Connecticut State led 17-10 at halftime before both teams combined for 31 points in a third quarter which saw four touchdowns in 3:34.

After the Bulldogs (3-1) pulled within 27-24, Nate Pagan gave the Blue Devils (2-2) a 10-point lead on a 19-yard run with 8 seconds left in the quarter.

Bryant, which took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, was led by Jordan Brown’s 123 yards rushing.

The Blue Devils then got touchdowns of 2 and 42 yards, which came more than three minutes apart early in the second quarter to take the lead.
