Police and fire department arson investigators Monday night had reported no arrest and identified no suspect in the explosive, fast-moving blaze that destroyed a duplex and three nearby cars at 2012 Y St. in Vancouver’s Central Park neighborhood.

A woman, her son, her 4-year-old granddaughter and a Dachshund named Hot Dog narrowly escaped the fire that broke out about 4 a.m. Saturday.

The fire quickly was declared suspicious. It’s being probed by the Vancouver Fire Arson Team, with investigators with the Vancouver Fire Department and Vancouver Police Department, Firefighter-spokesman Jim Flaherty said Monday night.

“They are aggressively pursuing the investigation,” he said.

Vince Thomas, 38, had been sleeping in the front room of one unit when he heard an explosion and saw flames outside. Thomas pounded on the door of his mother, Patricia Miller, who lived in the other unit and they evacuated with 4-year-old Lacey. Thomas then broke into the rear of his unit and rescued Hot Dog.
