EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A composting company that has drawn odor complaints from neighbors in Everett wants to turn that smell into green power.

Cedar Grove Composting has applied for permits to build equipment to use methane gas to generate electricity.

The Daily Herald reports the company wants to build as many as seven digesters, which could generate enough power for 8,400 homes. The power would be sold to the Snohomish County PUD.
