ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — Southern Oregon University has established a joint degree program with a Chinese university to allow Chinese students to complete a bachelor’s in business, computer science or digital design in Oregon.

The Ashland Daily Tidings reports that Chinese students taking advantage of the new agreement will arrive in Ashland beginning in fall 2011.

Officials say they expect no more than six students in the first year of the joint program with Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, located in China’s Henan Province.

The Chinese students will pay nonresident tuition and fees, which for 15 credits in 2010-11 will cost $6,810 per term. There are no current plans to send Southern Oregon students to China.
