Police in Battle Ground are hoping someone will recognize a security video image of a man who allegedly robbed a Riverview Community Bank branch there on Wednesday afternoon.
The robbery was reported about 3:20 p.m. at the branch office at 15 N.W. 13th Ave., according to a bulletin from the Battle Ground Police Department and emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
The man handed a note demanding money to an employee and left on foot with some cash, police said.
Moments later, an officer radioed that he was with a possible suspect in front of a nearby Wells Fargo Bank branch. However, it wasn’t the robber.
In the next several minutes, officers took positions around the area and set a tracking dog on the robber’s trail, but he escaped.
The robber was described as white, in his 30s and wearing a blue coat, blue jeans, a baseball cap and carrying sunglasses.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Joshua Phelps at 360-342-5242.
