SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The prosecution is calling its first witness in the trial of a father and son accused of setting a bomb in 2008 that blew up a bank in the small Willamette Valley town of Woodburn, killing two police officers and maiming a third.

Bank employee Karen Valadez is scheduled to testify Thursday in Marion County Circuit Court in Salem, where Bruce and Joshua Turnidge face aggravated murder charges.

Valadez answered the initial phone call warning people to get out of the bank or die. In opening statements, the prosecution said she thought the caller was a man in his 30s or 40s who sounded like he was reading from a script.

A metal box found outside another bank next door exploded as police were taking it apart.
