TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama will unveil the statue of coach Nick Saban before the spring game on April 16.

The statue has been in the works since the Crimson Tide won the 2009 national championship. Saban will join four other Alabama coaches who received statues at the Walk of Champions plaza outside Bryant-Denny Stadium after leading teams to national titles.

The others are Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings.

Athletic director Mal Moore said Friday the statue is “a fitting tribute to the accomplishments of our entire football program under his leadership.”

Plaques will honor players and staff members from each of the national title teams.

The ceremony will include Stallings and representatives of the Wade, Thomas and Bryant families.
