SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A Salem man accused of drugging and sexually abusing a teenage girl pleaded not guilty Thursday in Marion County court.
Jose “Steve” Gonzalez was arrested by Hubbard police and charged with sex abuse. Investigators say he gave the 13-year-old muscle relaxers and a nighttime pain medicine.
KPTV reports Gonzalez previously worked as a part-time referee with the Salem Basketball Association, but investigators don’t believe that’s how he met the girl.
