STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut basketball jerseys are flying out of the UConn Co-op bookstore as students prepare to cheer on their men’s and women’s basketball teams this weekend in the Final Fours.
University officials have hired a disc jockey for a street party should either team win another national championship.
The men (30-9) are seeking their third national title and are back in the Final Four for the fourth time, and second time in three years. The women (36-1) are seeking an eighth title and third in a row.
It’s the third time in seven years that both teams have made it this far. In 2004 the school became the only one in Division I history to win dual titles.
The student union is having basketball watching parties for students on Saturday and Sunday night in the food court with free pizza, popcorn and soda.
