Mountain View — Bald is beautiful … at least when it benefits Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

For a recent fundraiser called Save It or Shave It, Mike Meloy, principal of Mountain View High School lost his locks March 21. Students and faculty at the school raised $4,000 during the shaving event, which was organized by the National Honor Society.

Besides the principal, other school staff members shaved for the cause were Colin Rush, the dean for students, and David Blackwell, video production teacher.

Tyler Hanlon was the student raising the most money at $550. Lorna Atkins was the staff member who raised the most, at more than $650. Both chose to hang on to their hair. Students who went bald were Ryan Bingold, Jay Feng, Greg Harrison, Audrey Ramberg, Connor Simons, Josh Wirth and Patrick Yun.

A crew from Beauty First donated their time and talents to the cause.
