SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The NAACP is planning a special march and rally in Spokane to respond to the bomb that was left along a parade route on Martin Luther King Day.
National NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous will lead Sunday’s march from the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena to Riverfront Park. The march is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The NAACP says the march will to demand justice and support peace, freedom and civil and human rights. Monday is the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Kevin Harpham, who has extensive ties to white supremacist groups, was indicted last month on charges of placing a bomb along the Jan. 17 parade route in Spokane. The pipe bomb was disabled before it could explode.
