SOAP LAKE, Wash. (AP) — New plans are afoot to revive an old idea of building a giant Lava Lamp in Soap Lake.

Andy Kovach has designed a 60-foot-tall lamp with rotating lights inside to mimic bubbling globs of goo of desktop varieties. The Everett architect who lives in Soap Lake part-time says the lamp will be an irresistible pull for visitors.

The Wenatchee World says supporters plan to launch a $1 million fundraising effort to build the lamp on a rock bluff at the south end of Soap Lake.

Earlier efforts by Soap Lake artist Brent Blake to build a massive lava lamp fell through. Blake says he’s excited with the design and location.

Lava Lamp’s CEO Dale Zalusky has allowed the project to use the Lava Lamp brand name.
