ROY, Wash. (AP) — Pierce County Sheriffs say a 56-year-old man shot and killed his live-in girlfriend at their Roy home before turning the gun on himself while four children watched.

The News Tribune in Tacoma says the murder-suicide occurred about 1 p.m. Sunday.

Sheriff spokesman Ed Troyer says four children ranging in age from 10 to 15 were present during the shooting.

The Tribune says the medical examiner’s office has not identified the man or his 46-year-old girlfriend.

Troyer says detectives are interviewing the children to determine what led up to the shooting.
