VANCOUVER — The Lewis and Clark Expedition will be the topic of this month’s “First Thursday” program at the Clark County Historical Museum.

At the 7 p.m. free “Museum After Hours” event, author and historian David Nicandri, executive director of the Washington State Historical Society, will present “Deconstructing the Lore of Lewis & Clark.”

Nicandri will look anew at Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, the members of their entourage, and the people they met along the Columbia River.

Nicandri’s most recent book is “River of Promise: Lewis & Clark on the Columbia,” which looks at the explorers’ experiences west of the Continental Divide, from Lemhi Pass to the mouth of the Columbia River and back again.

It is available at the museum store.

The museum at 1511 Main St. offers free admission from 5 to 9 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month from February through November.
