PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) — A 23-year-old man who shot and killed his 14-year-old cousin pleaded no contest to a manslaughter charge and was sentenced Monday in a Crook County court to 10 years in prison.
KTVZ reports Brandon Hornseth apologized to relatives for shooting Justin Butler of Culver. He was sleeping in a motor home on the Butler family ranch near Terrebonne in November 2009 when the motor home was hit by a shot fired by Hornseth. He said it was an accident.
Hornseth was free on bail when he stabbed another man in a fight on New Year’s Eve 2010. He’s also been sentenced to more than five years in prison for an assault conviction in that case.
