PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A police officer wounded in a Jan. 23 shooting on the Oregon coast has gotten medical clearance to return home.

Lincoln City Officer Steven Dodds was shot several times during a traffic stop. Doctors say he experienced massive blood loss. They credit a well-coordinated plan to rush him from the shooting scene to a Portland hospital with helping save his life. He was released from Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in late February to continue his recovery at an undisclosed location.

KPTV says Dodds will be escorted back to Lincoln City by his fellow officers and other emergency service vehicles on Saturday. He’ll be the guest of honor at a brief public reception at the Taft High School Gymnasium in Lincoln City later that day.

The suspect in the case, David Durham, has not been located.
