WASHINGTON (AP) — A watchdog group is asking the Federal Election Commission to launch an investigation into the Fiesta Bowl for reimbursing its employees for campaign donations.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington is filing the complaint Tuesday. Last week, an internal report found that the Arizona-based college football bowl reimbursed at least $46,539 in political donations to its employees — an apparent violation of elections laws. The CREW complaint is focused on the federal campaign donations, which it says total $28,500.

The complaint asks the FEC to declare that the Fiesta Bowl violated federal election laws and to impose sanctions.

The Fiesta Bowl, which fired its CEO after the report, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
