KELSO — Schlecht Construction Inc. will close its Kelso office and move workers to its 15-year-old Vancouver location under a plan to cut costs, the company said Monday.

A prospective buyer is interested in purchasing Schlecht Construction’s three-building facility at 1302 Walnut St. in Kelso, said business manager Jessica Whitten. The deal has not yet closed.

Whitten said the company, which has 15 employees, has no plans to layoff workers.

The company intends to remain active in the Cowlitz County construction market, company President Larry Schlecht said in a news release. To that end, it will maintain its membership in the Lower Columbia Contractors Association, the Cowlitz Economic Development Council and the Longview-Kelso Chamber of Commerce.
