JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli authorities say a Palestinian mortar shell from the Gaza Strip has struck a bus in southern Israel, wounding two people.

Eli Bin, spokesman for the medical services, says one of the wounded is in serious condition following Thursday’s attack. They say the bus was carrying only the driver and a lone passenger at the time, which minimized the number of casualties.

After a two-year lull, tensions have been rising between Israel and Palestinian militants in the Hamas-run Gaza over the past few weeks.

Israel usually responds with tough reprisals to Palestinian attacks.
