SALMON CREEK — Washington State University Vancouver will host its annual Cougar Pride Days volunteer effort from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Any Cougar students, employees, alumni, friends and campus neighbors are invited to help with trail restoration and tree planting on the hillside campus.

Clark Public Utilities will support the event with plant materials, planting supplies and snacks and coffee for volunteers.

Participants may sign up for projects in advance at http://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/cougarpride/projects.

Saturday volunteer check-in will be at the WSUV barn on Salmon Creek Avenue. Volunteers can enter to win prizes.

Volunteers may use gloves loaned by the campus facilities and operations department. They are urged to wear proper footgear and weather-appropriate dress. Of course, Cougar colors are encouraged.

Cougar Pride Days has historic roots in the early 20th century. Originally called “Campus Days,” it was a time in Washington State University’s history when trees were planted, sidewalks were built and the main campus appearance in Pullman was sharpened.
