SEATTLE (AP) — A Microsoft manager in charge of the company’s Libya operations is being held in Tripoli.

Microsoft said in a statement Wednesday the company is working with international organizations to secure the release of Khalid Elhasumi from Libyan authorities. He has been in custody since March 19.

Microsoft says it has no information about the reasons for Elhasumi’s detention.

A Microsoft executive says the company is hopeful he will be released soon. The company is in close touch with Elhasumi’s family.

Elhasumi joined Microsoft in 2010. Microsoft first opened offices in Libya in 2006.
