COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) — Coos County, Ore., authorities say an apparent early morning residential break-in ended with the intruder’s death.
KCBY reports that sheriff’s deputies received a call Thursday morning from a woman resident at a home in the south part of the county who said a man had forced his way in.
District Attorney Paul Frasier says a man at the residence fired two warning shots with a .22 caliber rifle, then shot the intruder in the chest as he continued to advance.
Frasier says he’ll need to review the autopsy report and toxicology results before making a final decision, but right now the shooting appears to have been justified.
The district attorney says there was no relationship between the residents and the intruder.
