Sharon Wylie, a former Oregon legislator and former Olympia lobbyist for Clark County and other local governments, has been endorsed by the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington to succeed former Rep. Jim Jacks, D-Vancouver, as a state representative from the 49th District.

Wylie is one of eight Democratic candidates seeking appointment to the seat. Democratic precinct committee officers from the 49th are scheduled to select three finalists at a special meeting Monday.

“We felt that Sharon was eminently qualified for this position and that she could hit the Legislature running and not have the break-in period necessary for someone who is not familiar with the legislative process,” said Gail Bergeron, the caucus’s Clark County co-chairwoman.

“She’s got tons of experience,” Bergeron said, “and we feel her positions are appropriate for the 49th.”

Clark County commissioners have set aside time Wednesday to make the appointment to the vacant seat from the field of three finalists.
