PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) — Crook County sheriff’s officers say they’ve found three more horses dead in the Ochoco National Forest of central Oregon, bringing the recent total to six.
In mid-March, a deputy found three wild horses — two stallions and a pregnant mare — shot and killed. The mare was with her unharmed yearling foal.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office announced that deputies had found a fourth wild horse fatally shot along a Forest Service road. And they located two other carcasses of horses believed to be wild. Those horses had been dead for some time.
The sheriff’s office is continuing to ask for help from the public to find those responsible.
