Two people went to a local hospital complaining of neck, back, shoulder and hip pain following an accident at the intersection of Highway 500 and St. Johns Road Friday night.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident occurred at 11:38 p.m. when a 1991 Plymouth Sundance driven by David R. Jordan, 24, of Vancouver ran a red light and collided with a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by Jamie L. Seward, 29, of Vancouver.

Neither driver was reported injured, but two passengers in the Ford were taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center to be examined for what the State Patrol characterized as minor injuries. They were identified as Aleata S. Rick, 21, and Shayenne Redman, 17, both of Vancouver.

Jordan was ticketed for failure to obey a traffic signal. Troopers said the collision occurred as he was westbound on Highway 500 and turned left onto St. Johns against a red light, striking the eastbound SUV.

The intersection is due to be replaced with a freeway-type interchange beginning later this year.
