UPDATE #1: Portland Police Investigating a Homicide in Northeast Portland

The investigation into this mornings homicide is continuing as investigators are still onscene processing evidence. The neighborhood remains blocked off to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office. The name of the 19-year-old male victim will not be released until after the autopsy and family has been notified.
Investigators cannot yet say if the shooting is gang-related or not and no suspects have been identified or arrested.

Early this morning, Sunday April 10, 2011, at approximately 1:11 a.m., Portland Police officers responded to the area of Northeast 86th and Sacramento on the report of shots fired from a vehicle. Numerous calls to 9-1-1 reported multiple gunshots and vehicles speeding out of the area.
Officers arrived and located a gunshot victim on the sidewalk at Northeast 86th and Sacramento. Medical personnel responded to the scene at determined that the victim was deceased. The victim appears to be a young male adult. Some area houses sustained damage from gunfire but there does not appear to be any other victims at this point.
A crime scene has been established in the area from Northeast 82nd to 88th, Sacramento to Brazee. No vehicular or foot traffic is allowed in the area.
Homicide detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to begin their investigation into the shooting.
No suspect information is available at this time and no arrests have been made.
