History repeats itself. After reading Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank’s April 9 column, “As darkness lifts, Beck loses relevance,” about Glenn Beck, I am reminded of the same situation in the late 1950s and 1960s when people tried to warn our country of the forces of evil that lurked in progressive and socialistic movements. There were a few “Glenn Beck” types then, too.
There were also groups and organizations that tried to warn us, like the John Birch Society. There were also many types like Milbank who called them “fear mongers” or “right-wing extremists.” Over the years, the Milbank types, with the help of the media for which he works, won out and few listened. What we are experiencing today is the result.
The things the John Birch Society predicted have come to pass, and the people who were the ones trying to impose socialism on us then are now steering our boat of “State.”
Marxism comes only through conspiracy, and people like Milbank are moving it along either as a co-conspirator or for being what Lenin called a “useful idiot.”
