PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Officials say two hikers who were missing in southern Utah’s Zion National Park have been rescued.

A search and rescue team had been looking for 25-year-old Evgenia Bruzulukova from Roy, Utah, and 28-year-old Jonathon Wilson from Portland, Ore., since Sunday.

The pair had a one-day backcountry permit for a trip Saturday, but their car was found at the trailhead Sunday.

Park spokesman David Eaker says a woman hiking a difficult canyon trail met the pair and directed a helicopter to their location. Eaker says the hikers were lifted out of the canyon.

The Oregonian newspaper reports the woman who found the hikers said they were exhausted but fine.

The area is located near the Kolob Terrace Road in Zion National Park, about 15 miles north of Virgin.
