GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) — Police say a driver struck a pedestrian, injuring him and killing his dog before crashing the car into a building in Gresham.

Police say 31-year-old Craig Brian Day II, of Gresham, is facing charges of DUI, reckless driving, assault and animal abuse. Witnesses say he hit a curb and lost control of the car, which rolled before crashing into the apartment early Sunday.

Forty-year-old Joshua Grant, of Gresham, had been walking his dog, a Labrador Retriever mix, when they were struck by Day’s vehicle. Grant suffered a broken leg. The dog was killed instantly.
