BOISE, Idaho (AP) — U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis is promising a thorough investigation into the death of an Idaho silver miner whose body was found in the Lucky Friday Mine near Mullan.

Larry Marek’s body was recovered Sunday, and it appears he died during the initial cave-in of the mine tunnel’s roof on April 15.

Solis on Monday sent condolences to Marek’s family, friends and co-workers.

She says the Mine Safety and Health Administration will investigate the cause of the roof collapse. Solis says no miner should have to die for a paycheck.
