LAS VEGAS (AP) — UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones has postponed his first title defense against Rashad Evans with an injured right hand.

Jones’ management team said Monday that the new champion has torn tissue between the thumb and forefinger of his right hand.

Jones (13-1) was scheduled to face Evans at UFC 133 in Philadelphia on Aug. 6. Phil Davis is expected to step in for Jones.

The 23-year-old Jones won his title with a third-round stoppage of champion Mauricio Rua at UFC 128 in Newark, N.J., on March 19, cementing his reputation as the top rising star in mixed martial arts.

Jones got his title shot by stepping in for Evans (15-1), who dropped out of a scheduled bout with Rua with a knee injury.
