SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — The Polk County, Ore., sheriff’s office says a body found earlier this month in the Willamette River is that of a 46-year-old Springfield man.

The sheriff’s office says Theo Charles Varon was reported missing on March 14 and the vehicle he was driving was found two days later at a park along the river in the Eugene-Springfield area.

The body was recovered April 17.

Detective Curtis Pitt says at this point there’s nothing to indicate that Varon’s death was anything other than a drowning.
