PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Washington State University will increase enrollment this fall so that additional tuition can make up for state budget cuts.

President Elson S. Floyd on Monday said at a public forum that he expects the Legislature to cut $100 million from WSU’s budget this year. But proposals in the Legislature and the governor’s office indicate tuition could rise 10 percent to 16 percent for in-state undergraduate students for the next two years, beginning in August.

Floyd said Washington State will continue to admit in-state students first, even though out-of-state students pay higher tuition.
