ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) — A Roseburg police officer made an arrest at gunpoint after he witnessed a man being stabbed in a motel parking lot just off a busy downtown street.
The News-Review reports that Officer Brent Harvey was in his patrol car when he saw a man sink a large kitchen knife into the chest of another man in the parking lot on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said Harvey was shocked but stopped his car and ordered the suspect to drop the knife. The man walked around with the knife in his hand while Harvey kept him at gunpoint until other officers arrived and he dropped it.
Authorities said the victim, 28-year-old Nicholaus Knickerbocker, was in fair condition Wednesday at a Roseburg hospital.
