SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The University of San Francisco has hired Syracuse’s executive senior associate athletic director Scott Sidwell as the school’s new athletic director.

USF made the announcement Friday and said it planned to formally introduce Sidwell on the Hilltop on May 9. Sidwell replaces Debra Gore-Mann, who resigned in September to pursue other opportunities.

Gary Nelson, the men’s golf coach, had been serving in an interim AD capacity as a national search was conducted.

At Syracuse, Sidwell headed all external operations and directed the department’s marketing, communications, ticket sales and media properties efforts. He also supervised the Orange Club, the official fundraising organization for Syracuse athletics.
