LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Additional felony charges have been filed against a 69-year-old Clarkston, Wash., man who police say robbed a Lewiston, Idaho, bank and was subsequently shot by police.
The Lewiston Tribune in a story published Saturday reports that David L. Payton faces four counts of aggravated assault in addition to the initial felony robbery charge.
Payton was critically injured by at least five gunshots after police say he pointed a .38-caliber gun at the officers and did not listen to their commands following a Feb. 3 robbery of a US Bank.
Authorities say the new charges stem from Payton pointing a .38-caliber pistol at three law enforcement officers and a bank teller.
