KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A Richland man has been charged with controlled substances homicide after prosecutors say he dealt heroin that wound up killing two people in the Tri-Cities, and court documents suggest other overdose deaths could also be linked to him.
Brian Haney Burt is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Benton County Superior Court. The Tri-City Herald reports that the 35-year-old is being held on $250,000 bail.
He was charged Friday in the overdose deaths of 29-year-old Liam D. Hermsen of Richland and 44-year-old Shirley E. Sanders of Kennewick.
No charges were filed in the death of a third victim in 2007 because the statute of limitations has expired, but court documents say investigators are looking into whether Burt also sold drugs that led to two overdose deaths in Pasco.
