EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — During a police interrogation of a woman accused of shooting a Eugene police officer, the woman said she knew she shot a police officer and believed the police had been following her before the shooting.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports 56-year-old Chery D. Kidd has a developmental disability and a history of mental illness.

Kidd is accused of shooting Eugene traffic officer Chris Kilcullen to death on April 22.

During the interview, Kidd reportedly had trouble focusing, and would only occasionally answer the questions put to her.

Kidd has pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated murder, which carries the possibility of the death penalty.

Kidd’s attorney, Gordon Mallon, says he will file court documents related to questions about Kidd’s mental fitness.
