KENT, Wash. (AP) — Police are looking for a shoplifter who led a Kent store manager to a fatal fall.
Police have surveillance photos of the man who ran out of a Rite Aid store Thursday with two cartons of cigarettes and store manager Brody Koga in pursuit. The chase took the 52-year-old SeaTac man over a 6-foot retaining wall.
Koga was found unconscious at the base of the wall with a head injury. He was taken to a Seattle hospital where he died.
Police are checking with prosecutors to see if the shoplifter might face a charge related to the death.
Lt. Pat Lowery says investigators believe the man entered the store with a woman who caused a disturbance for cover. She has been identified and police are looking for her.
