The Columbian
Published: August 1, 2011, 5:00pm

Rose Village — About 150 people met at the St. Johns IGA store in early July to begin painting the City of Abundance mural created by Urban Abundance and designed by local artist Colin Cushman. Many children added their handprints to the bottom portion of the mural, called the “Hands in the Dirt” area. Inspiration Plantation donated eggs, Bob’s Red Mill donated pancake mix, Bi-Zi Farms donated two flats of strawberries and Jodel Hinjosa catered the pancake breakfast. The mural is being painted every Friday through Aug. 11 by volunteers from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington. Community members are welcome to join in the painting.
